Create Genealogy Distribution Disc
Basically this is the process for copying folders and files from their location on
the source computer C:\ to an external backup drive F:\ and then from there to
burn them on a disc in drive D:\.
To create a genealogy disc for distribution:
1.)
Create a GED file. Using Family Tree Builder, export a GED to the
C:\...\GEDCOM folder. Click yes to include photographs.
2.)
Copy the folder CensusRecords to F:\Genealogy.
3.)
Copy the folder GEDCOM to F:\Genealogy.
4.)
Copy the folder OtherStuff to F:\Genealogy.
5.)
Copy the folder Photographs to F:\Genealogy.
6.)
Copy the folder POULSENSCHMIDT to F:\Genealogy.
7.)
Copy the folder SupportingDocuments to F:\Genealogy.
8.)
Copy the file PSGenealogy.pdf to F:\Genealogy.
9.)
Gopy Genealogy folder from F:\ to disc D:\
Insert blank disc; name disc GENYYYYMMDD where YYYY is the current year,
MM is the current month and DD is the current day. After the files are burned,
turn the disc over and create a Lightscribe label. Use Sure Thing Label Maker
and the Genealogy Label. Be sure to change the label “as of:” date – it should be
the same date as the disc label.
