Follow-Up:

I discovered an article in the October 2011 “News aRound the Hill” newsletter
which featured the restoration of The Old Furniture Factory (OFF). It mentioned
the current owner by name “Wally Johnson”. I decided to send an e-mail to the
OFF to see if Mr. Johnson had any “historical” material related to Niels Poulsen
– former owner. He wrote back and told me that he had a box of “historical
material” that he had misplaced during the restoration. He sent me a couple

things (see below) and promised to send more when he found the missing box.
Later, a relative in Virginia stopped in at the OFF and talked personally with
Mr. Johnson. He found him very pleasant person. Mr. Johnson again promised to
share any relevant contents of the “historical material”. We are waiting to see
what turns up! In the meantime … courtesy of Wally Johnson and the Old

The above is a postcard from Niels’ business – Blue Ridge Factory. It was mailed from Round Hill postmarked 1898!
It shows that the factory made “axes, picks, hammers, sledge handles, spokes neckyokes and wiffletrees.
He also made furniture and undertaking monuments and tombstones.
