Lum Soo was also frugal and cautious. I remember watching him park
his Model T Ford on Lincoln Street where it rises slightly between First

and Second Street. Lum got out of his car and placed a block of wood
behind the rear wheel. I am sure the brakes were in good repair but he took
no chances. He had polished the radiator of his car so that it shown like
new. For a ten or fifteen year old car, it still looked brand new.

               The recipe is as follows:

               Ingredients:

                       3 tablespoons butter
                       3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
                       1 ½ cups milk
                       1 teaspoon vanilla extract
                       ½ cup sugar
                       Cinnamon
               Directions:

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and stir
until the butter and flour are combined. Slowly pour in milk, stirring
constantly as it thickens. Stir in vanilla extract and sugar. Spoon over

buttered toast and sprinkle with cinnamon. Stephen
