Mike Schmidt “Mystery Book”
The scanned pages that follow are from a book that at one time belonged to Mike
Schmidt Jr., Laura’s grandfather. Where did he get it? Who was the original
owner? Names and photographs in the book have not been linked to any known
ancestors … so far. Nevertheless, the book is very old (1876, 1879) with original
poems and writings and some very special hand drawings. The drawing titled
“HOME” is finely detailed. Look closely and you will see what appears to be the
initials “NJP” followed by the word “fecit.” which translates as “NJP created this”.
The “HOME” drawing was pasted onto the last pages of the book. Magnify (if
viewing with page-flipper) to see the text better.
