Miscellaneous
Organization of Files on Disc
All of the genealogy information gathered and organized so far can be saved on
a single CD disc. Because the information is constantly being updated and
revised, and because new material is being added as it is discovered, a new disc
will be created with the latest copies of all the files once or twice a year. Each disc
will clearly have a label with an “as of:” date. As soon as a new disc is created,
any previously dated discs become obsolete and should be destroyed.
The main genealogy document (this document) has the file name:
PSGenealogy-Vol-I.pdf
and the Photographs document has the file name:
PSGenealogy-Vol-II.pdf
They can be found in the root directory on the disc. All other files are saved in
folders (directories) on the disc as follows:
CensusRecords
This folder contains images of census records (in .pdf format)
relevant to the family genealogy. The images are organized by
subfolders pertaining to the census year and may include multiple
files which are basically different pages.
GEDCOM
This folder contains the exported GEDCOM file:
POULSENSCHMIDT.GED. It may also contain a subfolder with
photographs that are linked to the GEDCOM database.
OtherStuff
This folder contains miscellaneous files used to create the
genealogy document. It also contains an archive of genealogy
related correspondence.
