The search shown is one I made on Herman Fisher, my great-great grandfather.
When you find a match … you can then call up a map to see exactly where the

land was located. I really don’t know how they managed to know where they
were or how accurate but the information available is pretty amazing.

This map clearly shows that Herman included that little peninsula of land that
juts out into the west end of Lake Sutherland (site of the Poulsen cabin) and
how he also got part of Lake Crescent at the same time.

The ”Land Descriptions” shown in the search also match those that were hand-
written on Herman Fisher’s patent document. Here is an easier to read version:

The Lot numbered one, North half of the North East quarter and the South West quarter
of the North East quarter of Section twenty in Township Thirty North of Range eight West
of Willamette Meridian in Washington, containing one hundred and thirty-seven acres,
and thirty hundredths of an acre.

On the next page is a copy of the original document awarded to Herman Fisher
on February 6, 1892 for the Lake Sutherland property highlighted on the map.

Benjamin Harrison was president at the time. I only wish that they would have
               included the price he paid.
