John Alden and Priscilla Mullins are the subjects of a famous poem written by

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1858 titled: The Courtship of Miles Standish.

Longfellow was himself a descendant of the two.

There are estimated to be 10’s of millions of Americans (including many

presidents and celebrities) that are descendants of those who came on the

Mayflower .
