proofs and I still hadn’t heard a peep. I wrote inquiring as to my status. They
finally e-mailed me: “all the state historians have reported backlogs”, “November
2020 doesn’t look like a possibility for your application”, “more likely sometime
in 2021”. I was devastated and disappointed! Why don’t they get more help?
Mayflower Books and “Swag”
Thankfully, family and friends
have helped me through the agony
of waiting for results. Knowing
that I was researching my
Mayflower heritage, good friends
Cheryl and Chuck got me the book:
“The Mayflower: The Families, the
Voyage and the Founding of
America“. For my birthday, my
brother Mark got me the book:
“Mayflower Lives“. Laura got me a
“Mayflower-themed” book bag, and a first issue envelope
and stamp from the 350th Mayflower anniversary
(1970)! I even bought for myself a copy of the young-
adult Dear America book: “A Journey to the New World,
The Diary of
Remember Patience
Whipple” which I
had first noticed in
my daughter
Sarah’s 4th grade
classroom library.
Then, at the last
