A Very Special Thanksgiving – Part Three
It only took the Pilgrims two months to
make their journey to America aboard
the Mayflower!
You may recall that I have been working
to prove Mayflower heritage, tracing my
maternal Stanley family line all the
way back to two young Pilgrims who
arrived on the Mayflower, married and
had a family - John Alden and Priscilla
Mullens.
Incredibly, this will be the third Thanksgiving to have come and gone while
waiting for my research, my lineage and my membership in the Mayflower
Society to be confirmed. And I am still waiting!
It began with a simple clue I found while examining my cousin Michael
Stanley’s family tree – a curiously famous name that I instantly recognized.
And then with more digging and research on the internet, I found a document,
a letter detailing an interesting connection to the Mayflower, the Pilgrims and
the first Thanksgiving.
