Family Stories
My Mayflower Journey.
I first discovered the link in October 2019. I submitted my application and
proofs for verification in February 2020. It was going to be a long wait until I
knew for sure …
In 2021 I got word that my application had passed a preliminary review by the
Washington State Mayflower Historian. The next step was for them to
nominate me for membership to the General Society of Mayflower Descendants
(GSMD) in Plymouth, MA. GSMD would do one more review of my lineage.
The GSMD review ended up taking another seven months. Then in April of this
year: “Congratulations … your membership application was approved at
GSMD.” Another three months of waiting after that and my certificate finally
arrives in the mail! I am GSMD member number 101735 and WASMD
member number 1953.
The certificate got a weathered driftwood
frame and is now hanging in the dining
room next to the Audubon “Turkey” print.
Laura meanwhile found a hand-painted
plate online – the same John Alden &
Priscilla Mullens art as this year’s
holiday card. (Those
two are quite the
popular subjects in
art as it turns out!)
Mayflower Cousins.
In early November, Laura and I attended a luncheon at the Bellevue WA Hilton.
The program commemorated the signing of the Mayflower Compact and showed
