French Spoliation Letter #1
Lynbrook, N.Y. Oct 22 1925
nd
Mrs. Kate D. Sylvester,
Dear Cousin –
If you are still in the land of the living, this will seem like a voice from the
great beyond. That bugbear the French Spoliation case has bobbed up again, and I
am enclosing two papers each one of which it will be necessary for you to sign,
then I would like you to forward them on to Gussie’s address for her signatures,
asking her to mail them to me, at her earliest convenience as time is now the all
important thing.
I trust your family and Gussie’s if she has any, are all well. I am the last of
th
my line, my mother having died at my home in Aug 1918. On Oct. 28 , 1923 I
was stricken down with paralysis [and] was confined to my bed for three months,
and I am now slowly recovering. Hoping to hear from you soon I remain
Your Cousin
