George Fernandez Letter #1
[Note: From June Poulsen’s bible.]

Dear June,
I was so pleased to get your letter. The letter told me a lot about Laddie
Pontine. I do hope there can be some improvement in him. I will write to day. In
some way Mrs. Iving Fernandes got the address of where he is and wrote down to
him just a little while ago. I can answer some of your questions. Brieslow
[Breslau] is in the south eastern part of Germany. I asked Mrs. Iving
Fernandes. It is now occupied by Poland and so the name would be changed.
Gertrude’s mother’s maiden name was Buttel before she married Joe Stange. I
always figured that she was 84 when she died. I believe that Joseph died in
1918. He did not quite see the end of the war.
Hedwig [Hedvig] was the mother of Gerty and Margaret Pontine. Hedwig’s
[Hedvig’s] father was a taylor [tailor].
I remember when we were kids your mother, then a girl, used to come up to the
farm to play with us. We would often pick flowers in the woods together. Laddie,
