               won’t be an ‘official’ member of GSMD until that happens, which will probably
               be several months from now”. So … it looks as if I have more waiting to do … at

               least the length of a Mayflower voyage or two.

                                                      I can say for certain that John Alden and
                                                      Priscilla Mullens were there (left) at the first
                                                      Thanksgiving four hundred years ago - 1621!
                                                      I just can’t say for certain (yet) that they are

                                                      my ancestors. Still, I could not let this year
                                                      pass by without bringing attention to this
                                                      very significant anniversary. Especially
                                                      because three hundred years after that first

                                                      Thanksgiving      … well, take a look at the
               following photograph (which for many years hung on the wall in the Poulsen
               cabin at Lake Sutherland). Taken Thanksgiving 1921 – exactly 100 years
               ago! It includes many of my (for certain) ancestors: great-grandparents,
               grandparents, an uncle … and that young child being held up in the back row
               … my father Donald Poulsen, just over a year old!
