Family Stories
My paternal grandfather Paul Poulsen
had a good collection of books. I remember
he had an old lawyer-style bookcase in
his bedroom, a bookcase where each shelf
of books is protected by a glass cover that
folded up and over the books. Whenever I
stayed overnight, I always looked for his
book of stories by Edgar Allan Poe. It had
an orange cover and an embossed cameo
of Johannes Gutenberg (inventor of the
printing press) on it. I loved looking at
that book and reading those stories - my
favorite being “The Pit and the
Pendulum”. This book has drawings to
