Schmidt, Mike, Jr.
Mike Schmidt

A funeral for Northeast Portland
resident Mike Schmidt will be at 10
a.m. Wednesday in Parkrose Funeral
Chapel. Mr. Schmidt committed
suicide Saturday in his home. He was
77.
Mr. Schmidt was born March 2,
[Note: s/b March 12] 1916, in New
Holstein, Wis. He moved to Oregon in
1948 and worked as a carpenter and
door maker at Nicoli Door
Manufacturer. He retired in 1977.
Mr. Schmidt was an active member
of Loaves and Fishes. He served in
the U.S. Army during World War II.
His wife Florence, died in 1978 and a
son, Robert C., died in 1984.
Survivors include sisters Betty
Mangan of Kiel, Wis., and Helen Jung
of New Holstein; a granddaughter, a
grandson, and three great-
grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances
be contributions to Loaves and
Fishes. Disposition was by burial in
Willamete National Cemetery.
